Immerse yourself in the world of oceans and seas on the banks of the Main

MS Wissenschaft is a guest in Frankfurt

Research and science are not only interesting and exciting, but can also be really fun. To convey this, the MS Wissenschaft has set sail again this year with a great hands-on exhibition on board and will call at 39 cities, including Frankfurt and Offenbach. Here, visitors to the exhibition can immerse themselves in the mysterious world of the seas and oceans in the belly of the converted cargo ship, explore habitats such as the coast, the high seas, the deep sea or the Arctic Ocean and gain an insight into the varied work of researchers. In the beautifully designed exhibition rooms and at many interactive stations, the exhibition shows the importance of the world's oceans for the climate, the role they play as a source of raw materials and how we can protect the oceans and use them sensibly without exploiting them.

The beauty of this exhibition is that it not only conveys knowledge, but also invites visitors to actively participate: In a game, for example, you can find out how sustainable fishing works. With virtual reality goggles you can dive through a fascinating coral reef, and in the deep-sea cinema you can learn which creatures live in complete darkness thousands of metres deep at the bottom of the sea. Wissenschaft im Dialog (WiD) designed the exhibition "Seas and Oceans" on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The exhibits come directly from research: institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Helmholtz Association, Leibniz Association, Max Planck Society and DFG-funded projects, universities and other partners have contributed exhibits on marine research. The Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy, the Government of Lower Austria and the Upper Austrian Research GmbH make the stay in Austria possible. The exhibition is recommended for ages twelve and up.

Opening Hours: Daily 10am - 7pm (09.08. from 12pm) Guided tours: There are free guided tours of the exhibition daily at 11am and 5pm.

Group registration: For groups of 10 or more, registration is required at www.ms-wissenschaft.de/ e.
