Indulgence even without red roses: Anti-Valentine's menu in the Torschänke

Yes, there are those who can do little with Valentine's Day. The ones who don't want to bow to the compulsion of having to be extra romantic on this one day and want to back it up with red roses, chocolates and gifts. And that's not necessarily just singles. So if you're not a Valentine's Day fan, but would still like to experience something special on this 14th of February, you should come to the Torschänke in the Kempinski Hotel Frankfurt. Because here they have just the right thing on offer on this day: the Anti-Valentine's menu.

"No hearty decorations, no candlelight, no cuddly music and in general: no kissing", promises hotel director Karina Ansos to all Valentine's Day muffleheads. Torschänken restaurant manager Mathias Gierens and his team will serve the three-course menu on 14 February between 18:00 and 22:30.

For whom it should rain red roses, this menu is perhaps not the right thing. But if you want to escape the heartthrob bustle, you'll get your money's worth in the guaranteed Valentine's Day ambiance. Served as a starter is onion soup with stout, cheese and croutons, followed by succulent spare ribs marinated in bourbon, ginger and cumin, served with baked potato with chilli sour cream, coleslaw and Torschänken barbecue sauce. As an intermediate course, guests can look forward to a hug from Mathias Gierens. The sweet finale is a waffle burger with chocolate butter, grilled pineapple, banana and vanilla ice cream.

The menu costs EUR 39 per person, so couples pay EUR 78. For lucky couples, however, the price is EUR 128. Drinks are payable separately. Table reservations by email to <link>Restaurant.frankfurt@kempinski.com or by phone on 069 389 88 670.

Following a comprehensive conversion and renovation phase, the five-star superior hotel has been shining since the beginning of 2015 with a new, distinctive style that enlivens the hotel's historic character while emphasizing the rural charm of the former estate and hunting lodge.
