'It must be him'at Komödie Frankfurt

From February 8, 2024, Komödie Frankfurt presents a turbulent love story. In 'Der muss es sein (Beau Jest)' by James Sherman, the audience will experience a romantic comedy full of deceptions, misunderstandings and amusing situations. The production, translated and adapted by Herbert Kreppel, takes the audience into the Goldman family home, where the search for the perfect son-in-law for daughter Sarah leads to a hilarious comedy of mistaken identity. With a talented cast and directed by Heinz Kreidl, the play promises a humorous yet touching exploration of themes such as love, family and cultural identity."

Something is brewing in the Goldman family home. Abe and Miriam, proud parents and equally proud of their Jewish heritage, have precise ideas about their future son-in-law: academic, financially secure and - most importantly! - Jewish faith. Daughter Sarah has a partner in Donald who fits in well with this idea - apart from one crucial point, of course: he is not Jewish. Because she doesn't know how to explain this to her parents, she hires the charming and eloquent actor Bob Jacobson through an agency to play the perfect son-in-law at her father's birthday party. When they meet, however, it turns out that, contrary to expectations, Bob is not Jewish either. Too late! Sarah's parents are already at the door... Cultural exchange is not always easy. However, this romantic comedy by James Sherman, peppered with great situation comedy, shows that sincere feelings and tolerance can overcome boundaries.
