The moment has finally come: At 12 o'clock today, Thursday, 2000 balloons fell from the ceiling of the shopping center MyZeil, filled with a total of 1000 prizes. This marked the opening of a large part of the new gastronomy and entertainment destination FOODTOPIA on the 4th floor of the shopping center, around a year after construction work began. Center manager Markus Schwarz was pleased that the work had gone absolutely smoothly and had hardly caused any loss of sales for the center's tenants. Great praise was also given to the team behind Schwarz, who had worked with unwavering zeal for months towards this day.
For now, there will be three days of celebrations, with more great raffle promotions and many other attractions. A nice opportunity for the nine new gastronomy concepts that have opened with today to introduce themselves. Celebrating their premiere are Poké You from Hamburg, serving Hawaiian Bowls, the successful Mexican-Grill concept Chipotle from the USA, a special Coffee-House variant of Starbucks, the Fresh-Food- and Salad-Manufaktur dean&david and also the Indian Street-Food Restaurant eatDOORI. Ice cream manufactory, Asian wok & bowls restaurant coa and local salad and wrap specialists Heidi & Paul are also now in FOODTOPIA. And the action stage, where a few top chefs will showcase their skills as early as this Friday, is now ready to go -as is the brand-new restroom facility.
This doesn't close the FOODTOPIA chapter, though. There will still be a terrace opening in the summer, before the last restaurateurs and the premium cinema, the Astor Film Lounge, are expected to open their doors at the end of August/beginning of September. So there will be more celebrations at FOODTOPIA until late summer. But even if not everything is ready yet, one thing is already quite obvious: The reconstruction, the associated financial expenditure and the decision not to build a conventional food court here has paid off completely. A great offer and an appealing atmosphere make staying here very pleasant. You can really look forward to what else is going to happen here in the coming months.
