JungeMedienJury celebrates big closing party

For the thirteenth time, a total of fifty young people between the ages of 13 and 16 have voted for the best media in the areas of YOUTH BOOKS, AUDIO BOOKS, COMIC/MANGA, FILM and GAMES. The participants of the JungenMedienJury presented the results yesterday at a big closing party in the Commerzbank Tower. In times when everything is quickly rated with a "like", it is not a matter of course that young people invest a lot of time not only to consume a medium, but also to deal with it critically according to certain points of view and to take a position for it, which then has to be defended constructively in the discussions with the other jury members.

The JungeMedienJury is a project that takes young people seriously and that enables them to develop a certain level of media competence, to learn teamwork and to deepen social interactions. In the process, real friendships have also been formed time and again in the past years - another positive side effect of this great action. In the end, the results of the JungenMedienJury should show adults what young people are really interested in, what moves them, what they like and what they like to pass their time with.

Accompanied by the music of Frankfurt-based singer/songwriter Fee and speeches by Schrimherr Klaus-Peter Müller, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Commerzbank, and City Councillor Sylvia Weber, the individual jury groups presented their winners. For the first time this year there was also a winner in the new category GAMES, which could be included thanks to the support of the drug department. A real enrichment for the project, because after all, games are an extremely important medium for young people and due to the high risk of addiction that they pose, a responsible, competent approach to them is all the more important.

The JungeMedienJury is a commendable project that many young people can get excited about year after year. Let's hope that the commitment of all involved and supporters can be continued and perhaps even expanded in the years to come.

The winners of the JungenMedienJury 2016/2017:

BEST YOUTH BOOK: Digby #01 by Stephanie Tromly

BEST AUDIO BOOK: The Mill by Elisabeth Herrmann

BEST COMIC/MANGA: Ash by François Debois
