Just before Christmas, Frankfurt ignites vaccination turbo

Just recently, the vaccination campaign in Frankfurt stalled due to a lack of vaccine - but that's over now. The warehouses are full again and the vaccination turbo can now be ignited once more. Mayor Peter Feldmann and Head of Health Stefan Majer are now jointly promoting that as many Frankfurt residents as possible get vaccinated or boostered by the end of the year.

"Now there are no more excuses," Feldmann and Majer said in a joint statement. "We have the vaccination center open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. Since Monday, the vaccination station at the Hauptwache has also reopened - and there are numerous special vaccination appointments in the city districts. But that is not enough for us. Therefore, we are already planning further actions, about which we will inform promptly."

Makes the vaccination rally at the end of the year possible additional vaccine. Last week, for example, a batch of 30,000 doses of Moderna's highly effective vaccine was secured for the city of Frankfurt.

Mayor Peter Feldmann says: "I make no secret of the fact that I would have been pleased to learn of this delivery earlier. But Councillor Majer and I don't want to look back, we want to look forward. The additional vaccine is a huge opportunity. That's why we've agreed to a big year-end campaign for vaccination. We want to convince as many Frankfurt residents as possible to opt now for the only effective protection against Corona - through vaccination or the booster."

Health Councillor Stefan Majer added: "I, too, would have been pleased if we had had more planning certainty regarding the quantities of vaccine we ordered. But now only one thing is valid: Give yourselves a jerk and let yourselves inoculate. We can only break the Delta wave and the unfortunately almost certain Omikron wave if we finally increase our vaccination quota very quickly and massively."

Both took up the cudgels for Moderna's vaccine: "We can understand that some people, as local patriots, would rather have the Mainz vaccine. But Moderna is not a cheap alternative. On the contrary: the former Minister of Health Jens Spahn has even called it a Rolls-Royce. For everyone over 30, Moderna is an excellent choice, especially as a booster vaccine - and it is available in large quantities. Those who nevertheless prefer to wait are making a mistake. That's because the booster vaccine is the most effective protection against the new Omikron variant."
