KPOP.FLEX: Europe's first K-Pop mega-festival comes to Frankfurt

A phenomenon conquers Frankfurt! Seven of the biggest K-Pop acts will perform at Europe's first K-Pop Festival at Deutsche Bank Park Frankfurt, where they will make thousands of fan hearts beat faster. K-Pop giants Monsta X and (G)I-DLE are the first to confirm their participation in Europe's biggest K-Pop festival to date, KPOP.FLEX, with five more acts to be announced soon. The festival is expected to draw 44,000 fans to Frankfurt for its premiere on Saturday, May 14, 2022.

The six members of K-pop boy group Monsta X were discovered on a Korean reality TV show and are known for their unique aggressive rap vocals and pulsating electronic beats. Since their debut in 2015, the group's international following has been steadily growing.

The five-member girl group (G)I-DLE was formed in 2018 by record label Cube Entertainment (which also signs BTOB and CLC) and is now one of the most popular K-pop girl groups in Korea. It was awarded for the best performance at the 2021 Seoul Music Awards.

K-pop has become a global phenomenon, which is reflected in the development of the Korean music market: It was the fastest-growing music market in the world last year, growing 44.8 percent (revenue, streaming services and paid subscriptions). In the U.S., the K-Pop audience has tripled in three years thanks to a series of K-Pop festivals. KPOP.FLEX, the first event of its kind in Europe, is pursuing a similarly ambitious goal with a five-year plan tailored specifically to the continent.

The festival kicks off the summer of concerts at Frankfurt's Deutsche Bank Park. Patrik Meyer, Managing Director of Deutsche Bank Park, is thrilled to be able to bring this festival to the Main metropolis: "KPOP.FLEX is a highlight of our offering, which also includes concerts by Ed Sheeran and Coldplay. 600,000 tickets have already been sold for the 20 or so concerts. 2022 will be a memorable year for our state-of-the-art stadium!" Peter Kötting, Managing Director of event organiser PK Events, added: "We have been working on this project for a long time and are proud to be working with Deutsche Bank Park to bring this premiere to Frankfurt. I am looking forward to a sold-out show."

Tickets go on sale at 10:00 am (CET) on Friday, December 10 at www.kpopflex.com and via Ticketmaster.
