Leonardo da Vinci's 'Last Supper' celebrates German premiere in Frankfurt

It is one of the most famous works of art in history: "The Last Supper" by Leonardo da Vinci. The original of the famous mural can be seen in the dining room of the Dominican monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. Da Vinci created the work in the years between 1494 and 1498, depicting the scene in which Jesus meets with his 12 disciples for the last time before his death. Now the masterpiece celebrates its premiere as an immersive exhibition in Frankfurt and will be on display at raumfabrik from September 09 to November 12.

Leonardo da Vinci was the most important artist of the Renaissance. He is considered one of the most famous polymaths of all time. Da Vinci was a painter, sculptor, architect, mechanic, engineer, anatomist and natural philosopher. Born on April 15, 1452 in Anchiano near Vinci, he died on May 2, 1519 in Amboise. Along with the Mona Lisa, painted between 1503 and 1506, " "The Last Supper" is one of his most important paintings.

In an audiovisual 360 exhibition, visitors are immersed in the scenario of Jesus' Last Supper, in the original "L'Ultima Cena," as Leonardo da Vinci imagined it and immortalized it in his painting. With the help of state-of-the-art technology, every last detail is zoomed in and the meticulously staged reactions of the 12 disciples to Jesus' proclamation "One of you will betray me!" are shown. The multimedia light installation fully recreates the original color splendor of Da Vinci's work.

But the exhibition "The Last Supper" delves even deeper. Who was Leonardo da Vinci? To what extent did his passion for the natural sciences, anatomy, visionary inventions and mathematics, affect the painting? What secrets and mysteries blaze around the painting and what is there to them? This immersive exhibition takes visitors on a visually powerful, emotional, exciting and informative journey through the history surrounding THE LAST EVENING!
