Lord Mayor Feldmann visits Ferro

(ffm) Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann visited the industrial company Ferro in Gutleutviertel on Wednesday, October 31. Ferro produces, among other things, glass paints as well as functional and decorative coatings and glazes for numerous applications in various industries such as the automotive sector or the electronics, tableware and construction industries in Gutleutstraße.

Feldmann emphasized during his visit, "Industry is important for the city of Frankfurt am Main, because it develops innovative solutions for the trends and challenges of our society. Ferro is a great and innovative industrial company. Every day you come across products made of glass that have been printed with know-how from Frankfurt. That is why it is important to secure industrial locations in Frankfurt and to offer such companies development opportunities. With the Industry Master Plan and the associated spatial-functional development concept, as well as the current update of the commercial land development concept, the City of Frankfurt has created important framework conditions so that there is also room for manufacturing industry in the Frankfurt urban area."

"The recommendations for action of the spatial-functional development concept for industry of the Industry Master Plan are incorporated into the current update of the commercial land development program. Recommendations for action from the spatial-functional development concept include the target-compliant use of industrial estates, the activation of industrial estate potential and the qualification and profiling of industrial estates," said Feldmann.

Ferro is soon planning to expand production in Gutleutstrasse to include a new ink production facility that will enable digital printing on glass for the first time. Ferro currently employs around 320 people at its Frankfurt site.

Produced in Frankfurt are inks and special products for the glass industry, which are mainly applied by screen printing. In a new research area, work has begun on the development of inks for digital printing on glass. Managing Director Dieter Binder explains: "We are convinced that sophisticated digital printing on glass will soon become established in the industry. We are working hard to support our customers in the introduction of this technology through the development and production of innovative inks and coatings."
