Massif Games Convention: Frankfurt will be the hotspot of the games industry in February

Today, the new gaming trade fair was presented in Frankfurt: From February 19 to 22, Massif Central invites you to the 1st Massif Games Convention (MGC). For four days, visitors will have the opportunity to play and explore new things. Each day will have a different theme to appeal to different interest groups. In various panels, key players in the industry will shed light on the different facets of gaming and e-sports, the needs and perspectives of the industry and discuss their economic and political significance. Last but not least, convention guests will be able to experience a world premiere: As part of the Eurobike cycling trade fair, two virtual cyclists will compete against each other in the qualifying race for the Virtual Hero - Eurobike Champion on 21 February from 4 pm; the virtual race will be broadcast live from the Massif Central.

The co-organizers of the Gaming Convention are the H-DA University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt, Department of Animation & Game, and the agency Guilty 76 Triple A. The MGC is supported by the City of Frankfurt's Department of Economics.

The games industry has established itself as a relevant economic factor in Germany and is regarded as an industry with great growth potential. As part of the German cultural and creative industries, it offers jobs for highly qualified specialists in the digital sector. The Frankfurt location plays a central role for the industry. For the first time, gaming experts, young professionals and representatives from business and politics now have the opportunity to come together in Frankfurt for a multi-day exchange.

"Novel format for contemporary gaming culture"

"Frankfurt is the productive and economic capital of the German games industry, which has developed into an important branch of industry with high growth rates in terms of turnover and employees", says Stephanie Wüst, Head of Economic Affairs. "Games from Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region enjoy a high level of international recognition - with Crytek, Deck13, Nintendo and many other players, Frankfurt is positioned in the front row. An event that makes this strength visible in our city and region is long overdue. The Massif Games Convention fills a major gap." Massif Central Managing Director Florian Joeckel describes the new format as a "fusion of trade fair, interaction and lecture, with a focus on culture, gaming and business. We offer a relaxed format for the modern, contemporary gaming culture, a new type of gaming event with a convention character."

Admission is free on all days. Tickets for the gaming convention can be purchased via the event website from the beginning of February.
