Journalist Matthias Trautsch has been the new spokesperson for Frankfurt Mayor Mike Josef (SPD) since the beginning of July.
Trautsch, who worked for various regional and national media outlets for many years, most recently headed the Rhine-Main reporting team at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper.
The 46-year-old studied journalism at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, where he also taught news production. He has received awards for his work, including the Hessian Journalism Prize. With his move to Frankfurt City Hall, Trautsch is returning to a different role – from reporter on local politics to official spokesperson for the city's leadership.
