MOMEM celebrates opening of the exhibition 'Milestones'

After the successful debut with the exhibition around the Frankfurt DJ legend Sven Väth and numerous, versatile accompanying events, the Frankfurt Museum of Modern Electronic Music, MOMEM for short, has now opened its second exhibition. Together, head of culture Ina Hartwig and museum director and chairman of Friends of MOMEM, Alex Azary, gave a first glimpse of the Museum of Modern Electronic Music's new exhibition, titled "Milestones - Favorite Club Tracks 1985-2020," during a press tour.

It became clear that there is also a lot planned for the year 2023 and one can be curious how the MOMEM will continue to develop as a museum and platform for electronic music. Hartwig was particularly pleased that MOMEM is now part of the Museumsufer umbrella brand and can be visited with the Museumsufercard or the Museumsuferticket. Children and young people receive free admission with the KUFTI - the culture and leisure ticket.

Azary then guided the media representatives through the new exhibition, explaining, "We invited over 100 DJs from 20 countries from almost every continent to select their 'milestones' of electronic music, which are now the focus of the exhibition," Azary said enthusiastically. In addition to techno legends such as Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, Luciano and Chris Liebing, as well as Paula Temple, Shanti Celeste and Miss Kittin, younger artists such as Anfisa Letyago are also included. For the exhibition, MOMEM transforms into a hybrid of museum and club. On the walls, photographs of dancers by nine artists from around the world - from Australian Simon Burstall to Burkina Faso-based Sophie Garcia to Karl Magee from Dublin - emphasize the importance of dancing and ecstasy to electronic music. "A special highlight awaits visitors with the installation 'Nightlife' by Frankfurt photographer Sandra Mann - herself a holder of the Goethe Plaque of the City of Frankfurt. In addition, we show in the so-called machine room the 'Milestones' devices, without which these tracks would not have been possible," said the museum director.

The exhibition "Milestones" is now on view at MOMEM and is again accompanied by a supporting program. A first date is Saturday, February 25, when the museum invites to a synthesizer workshop with Prof. Andreas Kolinski from the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule Düsseldorf.
