Museum of Communication opens new permanent exhibition

After five years of preparation and months of renovation, the time has finally come: <link https: www.frankfurt-tipp.de freizeit s ein-besuch-im-museum-fuer-kommunikation.html _blank>The Museum of Communication Frankfurt presents its new permanent exhibition. It is the third remodeling of the basement after 1990 and 2004. This time, however, everything is really new, starting with the lighting, which has been changed to more powerful LED lamps. This means that even the previously somewhat darker areas are now brightly lit. But that's not all, of course: the new permanent exhibition follows a completely new concept, opening up new perspectives, showing new exhibits or repositioning exhibits that are already familiar. There is no clear structure as before. A predefined tour or chronological sequence was deliberately dispensed with in the design of the 2,500 square metre area.

It is up to the visitor here to create links between the individual areas. Otherwise, it is simply a matter of experiencing and dealing with media stories at 44 thematic islands - divided into the four phenomena EMPLOYMENT, CONNECTION, CONTROL and PARTICIPATION. This is often possible in a playful way, which is why children and young people in particular will have a lot of fun here. The permanent exhibition succeeds very well in conveying interesting facts, but also in encouraging active participation and entertaining through fascinating or bizarre stories. For example, you learn that in the former Soviet Union there was a black market for illegal records, which were not pressed on vinyl, but on old X-ray photographs.

You can also compete in an SMS contest on "old school keyboards" or see what modern devices can do in a small data supermarket - but also what data they record and, if necessary, pass on. The exhibition is bursting with original ideas, exciting exhibits and interactive offers. The fact that Director Dr. Helmut Gold and his team are proud of this new permanent exhibition is absolutely justified. For the Museum für Kommunikation makes it clear that it is possible to combine information about history and glimpses of the future in an interesting and instructive way without having to stick to the rigid forms of original exhibition concepts. By constantly involving the visitor here, the walk through the show is a lot of fun, which ultimately leads to the fact that what is learned here also sticks better.

So, take some time and let media history(s) tell you anew! It's worth it! The museum is open Tues - Fri from 9 am - 6 pm, and Sat, Sun and holidays from 11 am - 7 pm. More info can be found at: <link http: www.mfk-frankfurt.de _blank>www.mfk-frankfurt.de
