Kay Antje Lorenz was crowned Frankfurt Wine Queen at the opening of the Rheingau Wine Market on Fressgass' on Wednesday, 3 September. The ceremony was performed by Rheingau Wine Queen Lena Orth and Lorenz's predecessor Lena Roie.
Lorenz, who studies oenology at Geisenheim University, comes from the Rheingau-Taunus district and has lived in Frankfurt for years. "I am very happy to represent the city and its wine over the next two years," she said. With "dedication and passion," she wants to make Lohrberg, Frankfurt's urban vineyard, better known as her "happy place" and get more people excited about regional wines.
As Frankfurt's wine queen, Lorenz will appear at trade fairs, festivals and other events alongside her counterparts from the Rheingau region. Thomas Feda, managing director of Tourismus+Congress GmbH, described the wine queen as Frankfurt's "ambassador", who promotes the city's wine tradition both nationally and internationally with charm and expertise.
Lena Roie, who held the office for the past four years, said her farewells with thanks. On 13 September, she will be running for the office of Rheingau Regional Wine Queen at Eberbach Abbey.
