New opening in Bockenheim: At Yestern.day by Huck there's fresh food from yesterday
New opening in Bockenheim: At Yestern.day by Huck there's fresh food from yesterday

The figures are shocking: Every year in Germany 12 to 13 million tons of food load in the garbage. 16% of this is made up of bread and baked goods. Surely: a freshly baked roll or a loaf of bread that just came out of the oven tastes especially delicious. But that is no reason to throw away good food just because it came out of the oven the day before. That was the reason for Alexander Huck and his wife Tanja, who together run the traditional Frankfurt bakery Huck, to join the Thuringian project Yestern.day. With the shop Yestern.day by Huck, the first bakery offering good baked goods from yesterday has now opened in Bockenheim.

The aim of the project is to play a part in significantly reducing food waste and conserving resources. All that which could not be sold and does not end up at the Tafel or other projects in which the Huck bakery participates, will get a second chance in the new store from now on. Accordingly, the offer changes daily. During our visit, for example, we bought a really tasty caraway bread, a few Krebbel and a few rolls. The taste was absolutely perfect in all cases and the price - about half of the original price - is really unbeatable!

Whoever wants to buy bread, rolls or pieces sustainably, this is exactly the right place - especially since it also does something good. Because it is also part of the philosophy of Yestern.day that social projects from the region should be supported. Of course, the Huck bakery is happy to join in. Once the operating costs are covered, every month every additional euro goes to a selected social project. Delicious, sustainable and social - three good reasons to drop by Yestern.day by Huck.

Address: Landgrafenstraße 3, 60486 Frankfurt am Main

Opening hours: Tue-Sat 10am-4pm
