New season at Fritz Rémond Theater and Komödie

08.06.2018 | 14:58 Clock | Culture
New season at Fritz Rémond Theater and Komödie

Claus Helmer, director of KOMÖDIE and FRITZ RÉMOND THEATERS looks back on a successful season with both houses. With an increase of around 2600 to 63714 spectators and an occupancy rate of 76% at the Fritz Rémond Theatre and 72130 spectators, over 1000 more than in the previous season, and an occupancy rate of 78% at the Komödie, Helmer and all those involved on and behind the stage can be truly proud. Helmer is particularly pleased that he is able to attract more and more young people to the theatre. The percentage of young audiences has increased significantly in recent years, Helmer says, and is now around 50% in both houses.

On the success Claus Helmer, who now runs the comedy for 46 and the Fritz Rémond Theater for 23 years, does not want to rest. For as in previous years, the passionate actor, director and theater manager wants to keep ticket prices for visitors constant and that is admittedly not always easy with constantly rising costs. So successes like the stage adaptation of "Monsieur Claude and his Daughters", which was completely sold out for the entire run, are of course a very big reason to be happy.

While the current season at the Fritz Rémond Theater ends with a real highlight - the revival of the musical play "Sparrow and Angel" about Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf for only 5 performances (June 20 - 24) - the next highlights are already waiting in the wings after the well-deserved summer break. It starts here with the wonderful comedy classic "Gossip in the Stairwell" (06.09. - 14.10.) with Heidi Mahler in the leading role. After that, due to its enormous success, there will be another four weeks of "Chaos at Haversham Castle" (18.10. - 18.11.). The play, which has been praised by press and audience alike, was one of the biggest hits of last season and is guaranteed to be a hit when it is revived. After that, it gets Christmassy with Erich Kästner's "Drei Männer im Schnee" (22.11. - 31.12.) Christmas at Fritz Rémond Theater, followed by new plays penned by Lutz Hübner & Sarah Nemitz ("Willkommen", 04.01.19 - 10.02.19) and Stefan Vögel ("Die Niere," 14.02.19 - 24.03.19). The Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning drama "Doubt", which was also successfully filmed for the cinema with Meryl Streep, is also on the programme (28.03. - 05.05.19) as well as a musical comedy on the 200th birthday of Jaques Offenbach (09.05. - 16.06.19) and a short guest performance by the musical clowns Gogol and Mäx (20. - 23.06.19). It promises to be another very varied, entertaining and above all first-class season at the Fritz Rémond Theater.

In the comedy so far three productions for the 2018/19 season are fixed, including the hotly anticipated by many revival of "Monsieur Claude and his daughters" (01.11. - 02.12.). The key here is to secure tickets very quickly, as they are guaranteed to be completely sold out again soon. In addition, the comedy "Fremde Verwandte" (08.09. - 28.10.) with the popular TV actors Christian Wolff ("Forsthaus Falkenau") and Marianne Rogée ("Lindenstrasse") will be on the programme at the start of the season. Closing out the year will be "Das Blaue vom Himmel" by Eric Assous starring Anouschka Renzi, Harald Effenberg and others (06.12.18 - 20.01.19).

2019 will be a special year for the comedy. Because then the building celebrates its 20th anniversary. In 1998, the former building at Mainzer Landstr. 18 had been demolished and the comedy had to stop the play for over a year, before it then continued in 1999 in the building, in which many great successes have been celebrated for two decades now. A look at the upcoming programme suggests that there will be lots of laughter and applause here again in the years to come.
