New world-class museum in the FrankfurtRhineMain metropolitan region: 'Museum Reinhard Ernst'opens in June

After a long wait, the official opening date for the eagerly awaited Museum Reinhard Ernst (MRE) in Wiesbaden has now been set. The new art museum will open its doors on Sunday, June 23, 2024. The cube-shaped building, designed by the renowned Japanese architect and Pritzker Prize winner Fumihiko Maki, will primarily present abstract art from Ernst's private collection.

The opening exhibition comprises a selection of 60 works, including paintings and sculptures by renowned artists such as Tony Cragg, Helen Frankenthaler and Frank Stella. In addition to this collection, the museum will present a special exhibition dedicated to the architect Maki, including models of his outstanding projects such as Tower 4 of the World Trade Center in New York. The new building, which began construction at the end of 2019, is the architect's tenth museum. The construction costs amount to around 80 million euros and are being funded by the non-profit Reinhard & Sonja Ernst Foundation. The museum will occupy an outstanding position among the major art museums and attract art lovers from all over the world.

Opening times from Tuesday, 25. June 2024:
Tuesday to Sunday from 12 noon to 6 pm,
Wednesday from 12 noon to 9 pm,
closed on Mondays.
In the mornings, visits to the museum are reserved exclusively for school classes.

Admission prices:
Regular admission: €14
Reduced admission: €12
Admission is free for young people up to the age of 18.

The museum foyer is freely accessible to all. Tickets can be pre-ordered in the online store from May 6, 2024.
