New Year's Eve 2021 - This applies in Frankfurt

Also in 2021 there are again restrictions to the turn of the year. Large celebrations, parties and fireworks are not possible on New Year's Eve. Nevertheless, we all wish of course a peaceful and safe slide into the new year. To guarantee that, we are all required to adhere to the applicable rules. This means:

Since December 28, 2021, a maximum number of 10 people also applies to vaccinated and recovered people for gatherings in public spaces. Once a non-vaccinated or non-recovered person is present at a meeting in a public space, the rule remains that only the person's own household and no more than two people from another household may meet. Exceptions apply to children and young people under the age of 14 and to people who cannot be vaccinated. Also outdoors, everyone is generally required to wear a mask if minimum distances cannot be maintained.

A ban on fireworks is in effect in public places in Frankfurt. The city of Frankfurt am Main has determined by general order that the ban in the time

In addition, the basic ban on burning fireworks also applies in other parts of the city area due to increased fire risk by the federal First Ordinance to the Explosives Act. This includes areas in the immediate vicinity (at least 200 metres) of churches, hospitals and children's and old people's homes. The same applies to buildings or facilities that are particularly sensitive to fire, such as half-timbered houses or Frankfurt Zoo, as well as in Frankfurt's city forest in general. The city police and the Frankfurt police will increasingly monitor the applicable rules, ensure compliance and punish any violations detected proportionately and consistently.

Bridge closure on New Year's Eve

.

You will have limited access from Hibbdebach to Dribbdebach on New Year's Eve. Because during the turn of the year in the time of

31.12.2021, 22:00 clock, to 01.01.2022, 03:00 hrs,

the Holbeinsteg and the Eiserne Steg including the bridgeheads on both sides will be completely closed and not accessible for people.

Event-related road closures and traffic obstructions may also be necessary at short notice on New Year's Eve. In cooperation with the public transport companies, the City of Frankfurt am Main and the Frankfurt Police will do everything possible to ensure people's mobility. Frankfurt Police Vice President Björn Gutzeit appeals to citizens:

"This year, we are again all facing together the special social challenge of celebrating another New Year under pandemic conditions. Last year showed that the citizens of Frankfurt can be relied upon to do this, and almost all of them have been very prudent in adhering to the rules in force. This year we are again appealing to this sense of responsibility to protect themselves and, above all, others, and to celebrate peacefully in a small circle. In close coordination with the City of Frankfurt am Main, we will be present and approachable for all citizens in the city area to ensure a safe and peaceful turn of the year. We will take consistent action against criminal offences at an early stage and intensify our monitoring of compliance with the Corona protection measures and the ban on fireworks in public places with a high public profile. We are pursuing a communicative approach, pointing out the applicable rules at an early stage and punishing any infringements detected in a proportionate but consistent manner. Citizens can, as usual, at any time confidentially turn to the colleagues on the spot and also to any police station and the police hotline."

As in previous years, the measures of the state police in the inner city area are supported by the city police. The city police officers deployed will ensure compliance with the general ordinance issued for New Year's Eve, but will of course also monitor the other ordinances and decrees currently in force. For this purpose, the assigned operational sections will be permanently patrolled in order to be able to intervene immediately in case of possible dangers. In addition, the city center guard in the main guard contact station for those seeking help.
