Open Air Cinemas in Frankfurt and the region

Summertime is Open Air Time. The times when there was the beautiful open air cinema from Orfeo`s Erben in the Brentanobad are unfortunately over. Also the popular open air short film festival SHORTS AT MOONLIGHT has to take a break this year. Nevertheless, there are again some very nice opportunities in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main area in 2018 to enjoy cinema pleasure under the open sky in the summer.

We have compiled some open air cinemas for you. However, it is always true that the screenings are mostly weather dependent. So if it's raining or storming, check again if

Frankfurt - Haus am Dom

On the roof of the Haus am Dom there will be open air cinema with skyline view again this year. From July 20 to August 12, arthouse successes such as Woody Allen's "Wonder Wheel," the Oscar winner "Shape of Water" and the wonderful comedy "The Big Sick" are on the program. Movies start at 8:30 p.m. each night; in case of rain, screenings will be held in the auditorium at Haus am Dom.

Frankfurt - open-air cinema on the university campus Bockenheim

From 27 July to 25 August, the popular FREILUFTKINO FRANKFURT enters its fifth season. This year it will take place on the university campus at Bockenheimer Warte.

Frankfurt - Schirn

After the great success last summer, the SCHIRN is also inviting you to the Open Air Cinema again this year on four evenings in August. This time the films are themed around the upcoming exhibitions KÖNIG DER TIERE and WILDNIS. In addition to the films, which will be shown in the original version with German subtitles, there will be cool refreshments and BBQ from BADIAS from 7pm onwards. Films start at 9:30pm

Butzbach - Schlossplatz

For the 20th year now, the beautiful courtyard of Butzbach's Landgrafenschloss will be transformed into a large open-air cinema. Blockbusters, insider tips and previews will be shown here until 28 July. In addition, there will be a selected short film to watch every evening before the main film. In addition, there will be some tasty treats and, for some films, a supporting programme. Admission is from 7 p.m.

Bad Vilbel - Freibad

From 19 July to 01 August, the outdoor pool in Bad Vilbel will once again be transformed into a large open-air cinema. In almost any weather (even when it rains), films will be projected onto a 78sqm screen. 1000 comfortable seats with arm and back rests invite you to relax. Otherwise: just bring a blanket or sleeping mat, then the open air enjoyment is perfect! Admission is from 8:15 p.m.

Seeheim-Jugenheim - open air stage

For 15 years Filmseher invites cinema fans to the open air in Seeheim-Jugenheim. Until 01 September, cinema films from various genres are shown Wednesdays to Saturdays (provided there are no other live events). The box office and the beer garden open at 20:30, films start at 21:30/21:45. Part of the open-air stage has been furnished with comfortable garden chairs. There are many seats on the stone grandstands of the amphitheatre-like open-air stage. So if you want to be nice and cozy, bring pillows and blankets.
