Paul-Arnsberg-Platz in Frankfurt's Ostend will be inaugurated

The city of Frankfurt am Main invites citizens to the inauguration of the new Paul-Arnsberg-Platz. The celebration will take place on Tuesday, August 8, at 2 pm. In addition to Climate and Environment Department Head Rosemarie Heilig, the Department Head for Planning and Housing Marcus Gwechenberger, Mobility Department Head Wolfgang Siefert and the Paul-Arnsberg-Platz-Initiative as well as the Local Advisory Council 4 will be present. Together, the successful redesign and the associated positive impact on the environment and quality of life in the Ostend will be celebrated. Culinary delights will be provided.

The unsealing and greening of Paul-Arnsberg-Platz is a model project for the urgently needed climate adaptation. It will serve as a model for other squares in Frankfurt. For this purpose, the city of Frankfurt published a guideline at the beginning of the year that includes goals and measures for climate-adapted planning and redesign of urban squares.

Large tree beds, perennial beds and a wildflower meadow were created on Paul-Arnsberg-Platz, increasing the amount of greenery by almost 50 percent. Also a berankte pergola will significantly increase the quality of stay in hot summers.

The planning for this climate-friendly city square design began six years ago with the citizens' initiative "PAPI" of the association Lebenswertes Ostend.
