Paulsplatz becomes a forum for ideas for the 'House of Democracy'

Public participation in the Paulskirche / House of Democracy project will begin on Friday, 22 August, from 3 to 7 p.m. with a public forum for ideas on Paulsplatz. After a welcome by Mayor Mike Josef, citizens are invited to view the award-winning competition designs on Paulsplatz and in the Paulskirche and to evaluate them using a questionnaire. The planning teams – architects, urban and landscape planners – will be on site to explain their concepts. According to the organisers, direct exchange should promote understanding of the objectives and considerations. Staff will also provide information about the goals, process and opportunities for participation and assist with filling out the documents. For families, there will be a craft corner where children can cut out and colour a "House of Democracy" made of paper together with their parents.

Representatives of Frankfurt's urban society will also be present: the Bürgerverein Demokratieort Paulskirche (Paulskirche Democracy Association), the Evangelische Akademie Frankfurt (Frankfurt Protestant Academy), the Frankfurter BehindertenArbeitsGemeinschaft (FBAG) (Frankfurt Disabled Persons Working Group), the vhs Frankfurt am Main (Frankfurt Adult Education Centre) and the "mehr als wählen" (more than voting) initiative. The ideas forum is deliberately aimed at a broad audience and seeks to encourage participation. Special workshops are also planned to specifically involve underrepresented groups; the neighbourhood and civil society are also to be continuously involved. The "House of Democracy" is part of the federal programme "National Urban Development Projects".
