Pavilion in the Chinese Garden of Bethmannpark burned down

Such reports make really sad and angry: The pavilion in the beautiful Chinese Garden of Bethmannpark has burned down completely - only a few weeks after the Morning Dew Pavilion in the Korean Garden in Grüneburgpark has already fallen victim to flames. The Chinese Garden is a beautiful oasis in the urban jungle, an atmospheric retreat from everyday stress. Places like this are not only beautiful to look at, especially in a city like Frankfurt, but also incredibly important. They make visitors happy and give them a little rest. When such places are then destroyed, it is extremely sad. "You can hardly believe it and it makes your heart bleed," said Rosemarie Heilig, head of the environment department, who visited the burn site together with Markus Frank, head of the public order department.

In the early morning of Thursday around 03.40 clock, the police emergency call received a call from a resident from the Mauerweg, according to which it would burn in Bethmann Park. On the spot it could be determined that it was the water pavilion in the Chinese garden, which was in bright flames. After the fire brigade had extinguished the flames, a container with residual liquid was found. Investigations are still underway, but arson must be assumed. Persons were not injured, the property damage is estimated at about 250,000 EUR according to the current status.

The police are asking witnesses who can provide relevant information about this case to contact the Frankfurt police at 069 / 755 - 53111. Of course, any other station will also accept tips
