Recipe competition for the DAY OF THE TOMATE

The tomato is the Germans' favourite vegetable. And that has to be honored with its own "Tomato Day", which will be celebrated for the first time in 2018. Whether refreshingly delicious with mozzarella, as a tasty spicy sauce for pasta dishes or as a topping for pizza - the tomato is versatile in the kitchen. And on Tomato Day, you can win with this variety. Because the Italian family business Mutti invites you to a big tomato recipe contest.

Delicious recipes are sought that provide new inspiration for professional and amateur chefs. Tomato fans can enter their recipe at www.tomatentag.de by Sept. 29, 2018. The best entry will be crowned with a trip to Italy. Now that would be something, wouldn't it?

At Mutti, our love of tomatoes has always been at the forefront. It starts with growing them, of course. This requires fertile soil, the right amount of water, plenty of sunshine and patience, but also quick action - because, once the tomatoes have reached optimum ripeness, they need to be harvested and processed quickly. The land where these particularly tasty tomatoes grow is found in the Po Valley in northern Italy, around the city of Parma. There, tomatoes and wheat have been ripening side by side for 100 years - in crop rotation, the two complement each other perfectly for lush fertility. Freshly harvested from the field, the tomatoes are processed and preserved within 24 hours. This means that ripened tomatoes can be cooked with all year round, anywhere in the world - and Italian sunshine arrives on your plate.

Mom supplies the produce, you supply the recipes!

Mutti tomato products come in a variety of forms: as the finest tomato pulp, strained, as peeled tomatoes or concentrated - they all taste like freshly picked. To celebrate Tomato Day, the most imaginative tomato fans are now being rewarded. The grand prize is a trip to the tomato paradise of Parma! The best ten recipe entries, in which the tomato flavour comes into its own perfectly or provides the decisive touch, have a chance of winning the trip to Italy's Food Valley and other attractive prizes, such as a cooking course with Mutti ambassador Mirko Reeh, a Smeg food processor with pasta attachments or Mutti product packages.
