Registration for the 4th Frankfurt Cleanup now open

On 01 and 02 April is in Frankfurt again great cleanup announced. Under the motto "Hey, Frankfurt! Wir putzen Dich heraus" (We'll clean you up), the 4th Frankfurt Cleanup will take place on Friday, April 1, and Saturday, April 2. Anyone who would like to participate can register now on the campaign page at https://cleanup.fes-frankfurt.de/. Central collection events will take place this year at Opernplatz on Friday and at Kürfürstenplatz on Saturday. Possible are however also as in the past year single actions in the city districts.

"For some years we notice above all one: The waste in green spaces and streets becomes more. Although more is cleaned, although more and additionally garbage cans were set up," says climate department Rosemarie Heilig. "And yet: there are still too many people for whom the way to the next trash can is too far. Let us therefore again together set a sign against the littering of our city. Clean up with us," she appeals.

Next to cigarette butts, packaging waste accounts for the largest share of trash in parks and green spaces. In 2020 alone, one-third of the waste was packaging waste. "From 2023, reusable packaging will be mandatory for restaurants. Individual delivery services or restaurants already exist that offer reusable instead of the environmentally harmful to-go packaging. Thank you for this commitment in difficult economic times. We as a city and FES are also in talks about how we can establish an offer for reusable tableware in addition to our successful model MAINbecher," Heilig continues.

Once again, the Frankfurt Cleanup is being organized by the cleanliness campaign #cleanffm, the Parks Department and FES.
