Reopening of Frankfurt's top hotel: Althoff COLLECTION manages the former 'Villa Kennedy'

A new beginning for the former "Villa Kennedy":

The well-known five-star hotel in Frankfurt will become part of the Althoff COLLECTION. Planned is the reopening after complete renovation probably in autumn 2024.

The former "Villa Kennedy" was considered since the opening in 2006 as one of the leading hotels in Germany and was an internationally renowned flagship of the luxury segment in the Main metropolis. Operations at Kennedyallee ended in March 2022, and Althoff Hotels agreed with CONREN Land, the representative of the owner company, to reposition the property on the market in the Althoff COLLECTION portfolio after completion of the renovation. The plan is to create an "Urban Retreat" with 147 rooms and suites, including twelve Signature Loft Suites and a 320-square-meter Presidential Suite. Details of the concept, including gastronomic outlets, spa, meeting facilities and the new hotel name, will follow later this year.

The partners Thomas Althoff and Frank Marrenbach are pleased about the exclusive addition for the hand-picked collection: "The house is a great object in an incomparable location: in the green district of Sachsenhausen, within walking distance of the Main River and close to the famous museum bank, but at the same time only twelve minutes' drive from Frankfurt Airport. International business is returning to Frankfurt and we are thrilled with this location. It is a perfect fit for the Althoff COLLECTION and our selective growth strategy in the luxury segment."

As Villa Speyer, the stately home was built in 1901 by Frankfurt architect Alfred Günther in the historicizing Gothic and Renaissance forms for the prestigious von Speyer banking family. From 1948 it housed the "Max Planck Institute for Biophysics", after which the property was privatized in 2003 and finally converted into a hotel. Dr. Matthias Schreier, CEO of CONREN Land AG, says: "A luxury hotel and the Villa Speyer, that simply goes together. The interest from potential users and operators from the international luxury hotel industry was correspondingly high. We deliberately chose Althoff Hotels, because the name stands for decades of experience and quality. The Althoff COLLECTION concept, which has been successful in Germany, France and Great Britain, also convinced us for Villa Speyer. Frankfurt is in the best company as a new location and the Villa Speyer will continue to house one of the best hotels in Germany."
