Römer Open - City of Frankfurt invites to open day

There is always a big crowd and lively interest when the Römer opens its doors for the citizens and the city allows a look behind the scenes. That's why there will be an open day again this year, which anyone interested is welcome to attend. On Saturday, 26 October, the motto will be: "Römer open"! Then there will be the opportunity to get to know processes of the city administration and to enter into a direct exchange of opinions with the political actors of the city government. Whether young and old or old and young - from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., everyone is invited to come and see for themselves how work is done every day to ensure that Frankfurt is and remains a cosmopolitan city that does not deny its democratic civic traditions.

"We chose the motto 'Democracy - World City Meets Tradition' because we are a transparent and cosmopolitan city administration that is fully aware of the centuries-old tradition of civic engagement in all its decisions," says Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann. Together with city council chairman Stephan Siegler, he will open the doors of the Römer at 11 a.m. sharp and invite all Frankfurt residents to take a look at the winding corridors, magnificent representative halls and precious exhibits of Frankfurt's Römer.

Visitors will find a special highlight in the Limpurg Hall. Here, everything revolves around the Golden Book of the City of Frankfurt. In addition to Queen Elizabeth, Norway's Prime Minister Erna Solberg and many other celebrities from all over the world, the cup heroes of the Frankfurt Eintracht have of course also immortalized themselves in this book. Visitors can view facsimiles of the most significant entries and explore the history of the time-honored "guest book."

On several dates, there is the opportunity to take a look into the offices of the city council chairman as well as the Lord Mayor and the wedding hall. Guided tours through the Römer and the nearby Old Town are offered hourly from 12 to 18 o'clock. For this, one can conveniently register in advance at http://www.einblick-ins-rathaus.de/. At many booths, employees of the city administration will provide information about their daily work and also distribute stamps for the Römerpass, which serves as a guide for visitors from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and entitles them to participate in a raffle: There is a chance to win a look behind the scenes of the city parliament with city council chairman Stephan Siegler or a guided tour of the old town with Mayor Feldmann.

In addition, a varied mix of stage programs and dialogue formats awaits visitors: In addition to a guest appearance by the Frankfurt Opera and a performance by virtuoso Cajon player Daddi Bahmani and his band, there will also be rap and capoeira performances, an improvisation theatre for children and a football talk with Eintracht sports director Fredi Bobic and cult coach Dragoslav Stepanović. A detailed schedule of the stage program is also available at http://www.einblick-ins-rathaus.de/

From 1 to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m., visitors can talk to representatives from the world of politics at speed dating in the Magistrate's Meeting Room. In 15-minute rounds of talks, participants will speak for three minutes each with political decision-makers about current topics and life in Frankfurt.

Of course, the programme of events does not end at the gate of the Römer: on the Römerberg, several food trucks will prevent rumbling stomachs. A selection of dishes will also be served in the Ratskeller. There will also be a children's programme in the Kapellchen in the Ratskeller from 1 to 5 p.m. Here, in cooperation with the Museum für Kommunikation, the Kids Club will pitch its tents and offer the youngest visitors a varied and informative entertainment programme.
