S-Bahn stations are usually not real eye-catchers. Nor can the stations usually be described as feel-good places. Well, that's not their function, but you should be allowed to feel a little comfortable while waiting for the next train. This is exactly what Deutsche Bahn now wants to achieve by redesigning some S-Bahn stations. After a green-sauce mural at the Mühlberg station and another work at the Offenbach - Marktplatz station, Offenbach street artist Thekra Jaziri was now allowed to embellish another S-Bahn station with bright colors.
Since the end of December, large, bright shapes and colors, here and there a plant tendril and diamonds reminiscent of the characteristic ribbed Frankfurt apple wine glass, adorn the two entrances to the Galluswarte S-Bahn station on Frankenallee. The Offenbach artist was commissioned by DB to design just under 350 square metres of wall space in her usual colourful style. "I liked to give the space more cheerfulness by giving it a whole new look. The mural should invite people to smile," says Jaziri, who studied at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach, describing her work.
DB is also hoping the new colourful design will have a positive effect. "The Galluswarte S-Bahn station is normally visited by almost 40,000 people a day. Even though passengers often only rush through the station for a short time, we want them to feel comfortable here," says station manager Leif Niklas Wulf. After the first works of Thekra Jaziri were well received, is now another project at the local station in planning. We are excited.
