Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt invites to the great children's hands-on action

To be part of a big exhibition for once, that would be really great. And then also in a renowned museum like the SCHIRN Kunsthalle Frankfurt? A dream that can now come true for children aged 6 to 12. Because from June to September, they can be part of an exhibition by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone that will be on display at the Schirn.

For the "Paint your moon picture and become a Schirn star" campaign, the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, together with Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone, is inviting children in Germany to paint pictures of the moon and present them at the Schirn. The moon paintings will be on display during the run of the survey exhibition "Ugo Rondinone. Life Time" from June 24 to September 18 as part of a large installation. With your age and my age and the age of the moon, the artist is working with the children to create the world's largest image of the night sky. The names of all the children involved will also be on display in the exhibition.

As a recurring motif, the moon occupies a special place in the overall work of Ugo Rondinone. The installation created at the Schirn with the children's moon pictures draws attention to the universe, which is several billion years old. The moon influences both the sea and humans and stands for longing and the cosmic expanse. In his works, Ugo Rondinone often refers to the Romantic era, when the moon was a projection screen for reveries: people escaped the confines of the city and turned their gaze to the night sky in nature. Ugo Rondinone (*1964) is an internationally renowned Swiss artist who lives and works in New York. In his works, he gives everyday things or phenomena a poetic dimension.

The exact instructions to follow:

The basis of the moon picture is a black cardboard with the dimensions DIN A3, A4 or A5. When designing the night sky with the moon and stars, there are no limits to your imagination.
