Stand-up comedian Fabi Rommel has been awarded the Durchstarter Award by myticket Jahrhunderthalle. The award was presented to him on 12 December shortly before the start of his show "Daheim" in the Kuppelsaal, which was completely sold out that evening with 2,700 visitors.
The award, which takes the form of a rocket taking off, honours artists who have successfully made the transition from smaller club stages to the big stage of the Kuppelsaal. Rommel had previously played two sold-out evenings at the Jahrhunderthalle club in June 2023 with his programme "Der Typ aus den Videos" (The Guy from the Videos). His latest performance in the much larger hall was also sold out within a short time. In his current programme "Daheim" (At Home), Rommel talks in a calm tone and with a keen sense of observation about everyday life, moving house, family ties and homesickness, but also about big city experiences and the desire to be close to nature. The comedian, who first became known to a wide audience through short online videos, has developed into a fixture on the German-speaking stand-up scene in recent years.
"It is by no means a given that an artist will sell out the Kuppelsaal in no time at all," said Moritz Jaeschke, managing director of myticket Jahrhunderthalle, at the award ceremony. Rommel's career shows how digital reach and stage presence can be successfully combined. The organiser, S-Promotion, also played a key role in helping the artist make the transition from club format to the big stage.
Fabi Rommel will be touring Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 2025 and 2026 with his programme "Daheim" (At Home). His success in Frankfurt indicates that he has now completed his journey from internet phenomenon to established stage artist.
