Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof and the Energy Department invite you to the Earth Hour Party 2018

Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof and the Energy Department invite you to the Earth Hour Party 2018

Shortly after the Luminale has lit up the whole of Frankfurt, the city is switching off the lights - and not just on the installations set up especially for the light art biennial. Because on 24 March the WWF wants to set an example for climate protection with the Earth Hour - and Frankfurt will of course be part of it again. All people who live, work or visit Frankfurt are called upon to join in and switch off the lights for an hour at 8.30pm.

Frankfurt am Main is one of more than 240 cities in Germany that have been taking part in WWF's worldwide campaign for many years. The number of participating cities grows every year, so that, according to the WWF, more than 7000 cities in more than 187 countries are now taking part.

This year, Earth Hour will again be celebrated at the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof with a very special party for climate protection. As last year, the Frankfurt DJ Dennis Smith, who runs the climate-neutral Club Travolta in Frankfurt, will be playing.

The highlight of this event organized by the energy department is that the energy for the party will be generated by dancing. For this purpose, the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof hotel is setting up a dance floor measuring just under 4 x 4 metres in its cour d'honneur on Kaiserplatz, made up of technical modules. By dancing and moving on these modules, electrical energy is generated which is used for the party. Punctually at 8:30 p.m., Environmental Commissioner Rosemarie Heilig will join the director of the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof, Spiridon Sarantopoulos, in welcoming the dancers and turning off the lights for Earth Hour.

PRIME TIME fitness will set up energy-producing fitness equipment on site. These are treadmills that are powered by pure muscle power and do not require electricity.

The WWF Youth Frankfurt will also be back in 2018 and plans to display a large glow-in-the-dark banner in front of the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof, which will glow framed with candles and LEDs.

About the schedule: On Saturday, March 24, DJ Dennis Smith will be spinning for the Earth Hour Party from 7:30 p.m. (already 1 hour before Earth Hour) to 9:30 p.m. in the Ehrenhof in front of the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof Hotel, Am Kaiserplatz in Frankfurt. Admission is free.

Party along, dance along and generate energy - you shouldn't miss it.
