SternBilder im caricatura museum

SternBilder im caricatura museum

Achim Frenz, director of the caricatura museum frankfurt, begins every press conference with the greeting "Welcome to the most beautiful museum in the world!". Now, one might argue whether the charming museum on Weckmarkt actually deserves this title. But it is undeniable that the caricatura occupies a special place in the museum landscape of the Main metropolis. Because anyone who visits one of the many beautiful exhibitions here is not condemned to reverent silence, but is also allowed to laugh out loud and heartily from time to time. The importance of comic art has not only been recognized and understood by the museum's operators. It is also lived here - and that is what makes this museum so particularly likeable.

In the latest caricatura exhibition, the stern magazine's commitment to humour and satire is honoured. Already since the 1950s, the humorous and satirical approach to current affairs has had a firm place in the magazine, which - what is a real speciality - employs its own humour editorial team with permanently employed illustrators. Among the big names who have already worked for stern are such great artists as Loriot and Papan. In addition to many of the classics, however, the exhibition, which is absolutely worth seeing, is especially dedicated to the artists who can currently be seen in stern: Haderer, Til Merre and Tetsche. In addition, Tobias Schülert, youngest member of the humor editorial team, as well as the column "Ein Quantum Trost" get their own focus.

What makes this show so special is not only the high humour content of the drawings, cartoons, film contributions or other exhibits on display. This is on the usual high level. This time, the presentation of some of the pictures is also particularly humorous. Thus there are some "thematic" picture frames, which give the shown works an additional amusing note. In many ways, it is simply fun to walk through the exhibition, to be amused by the sometimes very nasty cartoons and drawings, and to be stimulated by the subtlety of some works to think or discuss.

Those who don't already own it should definitely buy the accompanying book "Finden Sie das etwa komisch" (Do you find this funny) in the museum shop after visiting the exhibition. It was published by Lappan Verlag in 2014 and is available in the museum for just 5 Euros.
