To go to one of Frankfurt's clubs again and really dance all the everyday stress away from your soul or just party with friends - that will probably remain just a pious wish for a while longer. Because clubs are among the last establishments that will be allowed to reopen in or after the Corona pandemic - if they still exist. In order to preserve the city's club scene, some of which is truly legendary, the network for event and club culture Frankfurt/Rhine-Main "Clubs am Main" is bringing the streaming platform "United We Stream" to the city with the support of the Department of Culture.
On this platform, clubs from Frankfurt and the region broadcast live DJ sets and concerts, but also readings, interviews and performances, on the Internet, thereby generating donations for the clubs and venues. For Ina Hartwig, head of the department of culture, this is an important step in helping the hard-hit clubs: "Our club scene has a long tradition in Frankfurt and is an integral part of the diverse cultural landscape. The Corona crisis with its distance rules will hit the music clubs particularly hard and many people will miss the shared dance and club experience. All the more reason for me to support the strong ‚United We Stream' format, which draws attention to the situation of clubs in crisis and ensures their visibility with a great programme. I thank the Clubs on Main initiative for their efforts and look forward to the program," Hartwig said.
The first livestream will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 20. After that, streams will go online daily Tuesday through Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. at https://frm.unitedwestream.org.
"We are glad that in the continuing crisis, we now have a way to bring artists and our region's club culture back to our guests. Our live stages and music clubs are in urgent need of widespread support to secure their existence, so that these cultural venues remain with us after the pandemic," explains Matthias Morgenstern, chairman of the Clubs am Main association.

"United We Stream" got its start in Berlin, where music clubs moved their parties to the Internet shortly after Lockdown with high-quality video and audio broadcasts. The format has since been adapted worldwide. United We Stream Frankfurt/Rhein-Main not only follows the artistic and technical quality of the Berlin original, but also its example of social responsibility.
