Switzerland invites you to a picnic on August 1, 2017
No question: picnicking is always a wonderful experience, especially in summer. Enjoying delicacies with loved ones in beautiful places, letting your soul dangle and simply switching off the hustle and bustle of everyday life - that's wonderful! That's why al fresco dining enjoys great popularity all over the world. Until 17 September 2017, in the exhibition "Picnic Time" at the Museum Angewandte Kunst, picnic utensils of the most diverse form, make and origin, numerous objects, installations, photographs and films tell of the wealth of variations of a popular cultural practice. To accompany this exhibition, there will be a very special event on August 01: for that is when Switzerland celebrates its 726th birthday. To mark the occasion, the Swiss Consulate General in Frankfurt am Main, in cooperation with Gstaad Saanenland Tourism and the Museum Angewandte Kunst, are inviting visitors to a joint picnic in the Museum Park. As a special gift to Frankfurt, admission to the museum is free for all visitors during opening hours from 10 am to 6 pm. From 12 noon, culinary specialties from Switzerland will be offered at cost price in Metzlerpark. Guests can choose between an organic cheese raclette melted on site and a dried meat patty. Both specialities come from the Gstaad region, as does the wooden fondue caquelon installed in Metzlerpark to mark the "Picnic Time" exhibition. The offer is complemented by Swiss wine, beer or Helvetic lemonade made from milk serum. The alphorn duo Alpcologne will provide the appropriate musical accompaniment to the Swiss picnic at every full and half hour. Picnic in a beautiful garden, very close to the banks of the Main - life in the big city can be so green, relaxing and enjoyable. You should not miss this! Without registration. Admission free
