Thank you evening at the Frankfurt Oktoberfest for the bomb disposal helpers

Thank you evening at the Frankfurt Oktoberfest for the bomb disposal helpers

They deserved it: When an aerial bomb from World War II had to be defused in the middle of Frankfurt on 03. September an aerial bomb from the Second World War had to be defused in the middle of Frankfurt, many helpers were in use, in order to bring the largest evacuation measure of the last decades as smoothly as possible over the stage. There's no question about it: without volunteers, this large-scale evacuation would have been unthinkable - and that's reason enough for the organisers of the Frankfurt Oktoberfest to say a big thank you to them for their commitment. To this end, festival hosts Dennis and Patrick Hausmann and organizer Kai Mann invited 500 helpers to the marquee in front of the Commerzbank Arena, among them volunteers from the emergency services, the THW (Technisches Hilfswerk) and volunteer fire departments.

In a stage address, Frankfurt's mayor Uwe Becker thanked the helpers for their efforts around the defusing of the aerial bomb: "Thanks to the great performance of everyone involved, the largest evacuation of the post-war period and the bomb defusing went successfully. On behalf of the City of Frankfurt, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the full-time and voluntary emergency services. My thanks also go to the organizers of our Oktoberfest for providing us with this festive setting today." "We are very proud to have been able to welcome the many helpers to our tent," said festival hosts Dennis and Patrick Hausmann. "And as fate would have it, around 100 of the invited helpers were unfortunately unable to come due to another bomb discovery in Niederrad - so an extra-large thank you to them!" We are only too happy to join in!

During the thank you evening, the volunteers and Oktoberfest visitors enjoyed the Schlager-Wiesn with ex-DSDS contestant Anna-Maria Zimmermann and the Oktoberfest Band. The Frankfurt Oktoberfest continues until October 8
