The Applied Advent Calendar

Well, have you already bought or made an advent calendar for your loved ones? There's still a little time before the first door opens, but you can't really start preparing for the Advent and Christmas season soon enough. If you are in the mood for an artistic Advent calendar, you can take advantage of an offer from the Museum Angewandte Kunst. This Advent season, the museum's own photo Advent calendar will be on sale for the first time at the museum's box office. Behind the 24 little doors, visitors can gain insights into current and past exhibitions and hear little stories about the objects in the museum.

As a special bonus, the owners of the calendar have the exclusive chance to win a variety of prizes. Prizes include two nights for two people including breakfast at the four-star Flemings Selection hotel in Frankfurt at Eschenheimer Tor; Museumsufer cards and Museumsufer tickets; tickets to Schauspiel Frankfurt; exclusive curator tours of the Museum Angewandte Kunst; self-designed T-shirts by Michelle Elie, whose Comme des Garçons collection is currently on display at the museum; a form Designklassiker package; coffee and cake at the Emma Metzler restaurant and many more.

The calendar comes with a bit of a downer, as it effectively replaces the popular "Market Special Gifting," which cannot take place in 2020 due to the current Covid 19 situation. Still, thanks to this lovely Advent calendar, there's no need to miss out on samples of exceptional design. From bee colonies to Asian porcelain art, the Advent calendar presents special individual pieces from various exhibitions, offering both an overall impression of the extensive museum collection and interesting background information. In addition, small local manufactories and labels that are normally represented at the "Markt Besonderes Schenken" have also contributed prizes for the raffle, including Frisch Beutel, Enterprise Strickdesign, Stitch by Stitch, nuuna, Caffè Due Mani, Wildwax and Tudi Billo.

The production of the first Museum Advent Calendar is supported by the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain, the State of Hesse, Deutsche Vermögensberatung and Nassauische Sparkasse. The motif of the Applied Advent Calendar was designed in cooperation with students of the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach am Main, Anna Sukhova and Tanya Tverdokhlebova. The photo Advent calendar is a project by Julia Sauerwein as part of her FSJ Kultur at the Museum Angewandte Kunst.

At a price of 4.99 euros, the Advent calendar can be purchased from Tuesday, 3 November, both during normal opening hours at the museum box office and on the museum website.
