The CityAlm - Bavarian cosiness above the roofs of Frankfurt

The CityAlm - Bavarian cosiness above the roofs of Frankfurt

Rooftop locations enjoy great popularity in the summer, as they give city dwellers a little bit of holiday feeling even in the hectic everyday life. One of the most popular of these rooftop locations in Frankfurt is the City Beach on the roof of the Konstablerwache multi-storey car park. But where many people meet in summer for after work drinks or beach parties, there has been yawning emptiness in winter. Until now. Because two years ago the makers thought: Why let this great location lie fallow? And so, with a lot of effort, a massive alpine hut was built on the roof of the parking garage, where you can enjoy a touch of vacation in the mountains again in 2019.

In the spacious hut with its stylish interior, a cozy and convivial atmosphere quickly arises. Even the background music, which consists mainly of hit songs that you hear at every apre ski party, is fitting. The staff, dressed in traditional costumes, is very friendly and attentive. The view from the hut may not offer any mountains, but is just great especially in the evening with atmospheric lighting and the skyline in the background.

The food and drink offer is perfectly adapted to the concept of the City Alm. In addition to Bavarian specialties such as white sausages or Obazda with pretzels, there are still soups, salads, grilled chicken, schnitzel, Leberkäs with fried egg and fried potatoes or game goulash with red cabbage and spaetzle. And if you like it sweet, you can choose between Bavarian cream, apple strudel and Kaiserschmarrn. During our visit, we tried Grandfather's Bread Salad, consisting of spicy crusty bread pieces on arugula, tomatoes and mozzarella balls, as well as the Alm Burger of Black Angus beef with mountain cheese, fried onions and fries. Both the size of the portions and the quality of the food can convince. You can taste the fresh ingredients and the pleasant seasoning gives just the burger an excellent touch. To drink there is Allgäuer Büble Festbier, Radler, various wines and fruit brandies as well as Possmann apple wine and juice or soft drinks and various hot drinks. A really good selection, where really for every taste something is there.

While it is on a Sunday afternoon here rather relaxed, burns just on the evenings of the weekend the hut. So if you're looking for a really boisterous apre ski vibe, be sure to head to City Alm after hours. Until 30 December there is also a small Christmas market in front of the hut with twelve huts where you can taste mulled wine, waffles, pulled pork and other treats. The CityXmas market also moved to City Alm in 2017 and invites you to an atmospheric market visit above the rooftops of the city. The perfect after work location with really great views - Simply beautiful!
