The Frankfurt art fair DISCOVERY ART FAIR wants to make art experienceable again

At the moment, more and more planned events are being cancelled again and there is great uncertainty everywhere: what will happen in Frankfurt in the next few weeks? There is a small ray of hope: As things stand, the third edition of the "Discovery Art Fair", the first public fair to be held at the Frankfurt exhibition grounds since the start of the pandemic, will take place from 29 October to 1 November. The organisers, together with Messe Frankfurt, have been working intensively for weeks to arrange the popular art fair in such a way that the relaxed and stimulating atmosphere is maintained, while at the same time ensuring all hygiene regulations and the safety of visitors and exhibitors.

In order to succeed at all, the fair has this year moved from the Forum of the exhibition centre to the much larger Hall 1, the former hall of Art Frankfurt. The additional space allows for a more loosened-up stand architecture, larger spacing areas and wide aisles. Additional sculpture spaces enrich the fair's offerings, where this year around 100 exhibitors will present contemporary art from all genres on more than 7,000 square meters. This means that the number of participants, despite the entry restrictions in force, could even be increased compared to the two previous years, which can be seen as an important signal for Frankfurt as an art market location.

The digital fair companion: contactless information procurement for visitors

For as contactless a visit to the fair as possible, the Discovery Art Fair Frankfurt uses new digital possibilities. As the first German art fair, the innovative services of fynd.art, a start-up from Austria, are used here. With the newly developed web application, visitors to the fair can scan exhibited works and receive information about the artwork and artist contactlessly on their smartphone. The scanned artworks can be saved in a personal watch list and are still available after the fair. The web app takes over the function of flyers and catalogues and, with the possibility of simple contactless collection of data and facts, not only ensures optimisation of the trade fair visit but also provides further support for reducing the risk of infection as part of a comprehensive hygiene concept.

Thousands of artworks are looking for new owners

There really is a lot for art lovers to discover here: This is because the carefully curated mix of galleries, projects and individual artists, which is particularly unique in the trade fair landscape, makes for an exciting insight into current art production. The offer ranges from painting, photo art and works on paper to sculpture and installation to mixed media works and urban art.

Famous fair participants such as the Frankfurt gallery Barbara von Stechow, the Düsseldorf gallery Bengelsträter, the Berlin gallery Gräfe art.concept or gallery Augarde from the Eifel offer an attractive compilation of emerging newcomers and established positions. Young galleries and artist projects offer art discoverers and collectors the chance to find the right artwork for every taste and budget. And the "Artist Section" reveals the unique opportunity to meet the artists in person and exchange ideas with them about their work.

All art fans who want to enter into a dialogue with artists and gallery owners and are looking for a unique original are cordially invited, best to book their online ticket in advance, as the maximum number of visitors is limited.

In addition, the organizers' appeal to all art lovers is to support the artists right now by buying a small or even a large piece of art and to beautify their home with their new favorite work.
