The Frankfurt Markthalle in the main station is open again

Good news for all travelers and commuters who are plagued by hunger at Frankfurt's main station: After being closed for several months due to water damage, the Frankfurt Markthalle, the food court in the main station, has now reopened. "We are delighted that travellers at Frankfurt Central Station can now once again enjoy the gastronomic offerings in the Frankfurt Market Hall," said Christopher Wohlfarth, Head of Leasing, Central Regional Division of DB Station&Service AG and Thomas Wiesel, CEO of market hall operator Lagardère Travel Retail Germany on the occasion of the reopening, which has been eagerly awaited by many rail customers. "Together, we are convinced that the close cooperation of all parties involved has now resulted in a redesigned and even more beautiful Frankfurt Markthalle."

The culinary hub of the main station underwent extensive refurbishment in just under 6 months and now once again offers rail travellers, commuters and station visitors a diverse selection from a total of nine fresh food- & beverage offerings over 1,000 square metres. "We've taken advantage of the renovation period to keep what's tried and true and popular, while making what's good even better," Thomas enthuses.

Classics and innovations

The restaurants of Nordsee and Burger King present themselves just as in the usual form as the Heinz Bar, popular with visitors for its special Frankfurt charm. Thomas Wiesel: "However, guests of Thai Wok, dean&david, Coffee Fellows, Zeiss and Kamps can look forward not only to their favourite dishes and products, but also to being served in a new, even fresher ambience." The appearance of the successful Italian food concept "ciao bella" is completely new: now guests can also enjoy Italian classics such as pasta, pizza and crispy fresh salads prepared quickly, deliciously and completely fresh on site in Frankfurt's Markthalle.

Thanks to all involved

The closure was of course not only annoying for customers, but also for the employees of the providers located there a difficult time. Oliver Hempel, Executive Vice President Strategy & Development at Lagardère Travel Retail, knows this too, and he is taking advantage of the reopening to thank all of the concept partners and especially the employees and all of the craftsmen and companies involved for the smooth implementation of the work in this extensive construction project. However, his thanks also go to Deutsche Bahn for its constructive cooperation, without which it would not have been possible to reopen the Frankfurt Markthalle this early summer. "Furthermore, I would like to express my special thanks to all our guests for the understanding and patience shown during the construction period," said Oliver Hempel.
