The multifunctional arena at Kaiserlei is not off the table

The multifunctional arena at Kaiserlei is not off the table

Is it coming or not? On January 31, it was reported that plans for a multi-functional arena at the Kaiserlei roundabout were on the verge of being scrapped. This would mean that plans that had been worked out over years would be off the table. "Just on Monday I had a conversation with the investor Langano, which I found very positive. With the high investment sum, which is to be raised for the multi-functional arena particularly also against the background of the parameters demanded by the city, it is understandable nevertheless that all modalities for a favorable financing concept are examined exactly, even if that takes more time, than all involved ones naturally hoped."

Sprich: Only because the planning lasts somewhat longer, the project is not yet by far from the table. On the contrary. The realisation of a multifunctional arena at the Kaiserleikreisel site is a complex project from the outset, one that is associated with many different challenges. Urban planning and planning law issues, traffic development, land availability while at the same time guaranteeing conditions suitable for clubs are tasks that are not easy to master.

"I prefer that we give the investor the necessary time to secure the financing for the presented concept of the multifunctional arena, in order to know that we have a long-term, reliable partner on board," states the head of the sports department. "But I understand that our clubs, as well as the public and not to forget the second interested party for the project, want clarity soon, which is why I have also urged Langano to now present the financing concept in the short term."

Commissioner for Construction and Real Estate Jan Schneider also continues to assume that the plans for a multifunctional arena will be realized. "We have put a lot of resources into the process of selecting a suitable investor and hope that these efforts will be crowned with success." He denied the report that the land was earmarked for the European School Frankfurt (ESF). "We are examining various sites for the new school building," Schneider explained. "However, the area at the Kaiserlei is not among them, because the multifunctional arena is to be built there."
