The SCHIRN invites you to a Club Walk this weekend

This weekend, for the first time in a long time, you can move from club to club. This is made possible by the exhibition "Distant Bodies Dancing Eyes", which is presented by the SCHIRN together with some local clubs for three days. At the center of the excursion into the club scene of Frankfurt and Offenbach is the effort to establish the music video in contemporary art. Matthias Ulrich, curator of the exhibition, has selected music videos by 23 international artists such as Doug Aitken, Wolfgang Tillmans or Phil Collins (not to be confused with the musician of the same name), which will be shown from 09. - 11. July in each case from 15 - 22 o'clock in eight clubs in Frankfurt and Offenbach to be seen.

In each location three music videos will be to be seen. If you want to see all the works, you'll have to go on an extended club walk, which will then take you to the Gibson Club, Nachtleben, Tanzhaus West, Silbergold, Kunstverein Familie Montez, Hafen 2, Robert Johnson and the Yachtklub. Klaus Unkelbach, managing director of the "Robert Johnson" on the banks of the Main in Offenbach, described by Zeit magazine as "one of the coolest clubs in Germany", is happy to finally be able to welcome guests to his club again - even if only for three days. After that, the doors will be closed again until dancing and partying together with lots of people is once again possible without any worries.

The return to the clubs should also be a special experience for visitors to this exhibition. The interplay of the sometimes fascinating, sometimes challenging or even disturbing images with the best club sound gives the music videos additional power. The presentation is not the same in all locations. While at the Gibson, for example, thumping basses spread a real club feeling, the presentation at the Kunstverein Familie Montez, where the music is transported via headphones, has a much more intimate feel.

The works on display are not only exciting works of contemporary art, but they also deal with social conflicts (like "Wash Us in the Blood" by Kanye West, video by Arthur Jafa), take the viewer into downright utopian scenarios or convey very human feelings. If you are interested in the music video as an artistic medium or simply want to feel the club atmosphere again, you should definitely accept the SCHIRN's invitation to this Club Walk.
