The shopping center MyZeil turns 10

Kids, how time flies. It's been another ten years since a new shopping center opened on the Zeil with much fanfare. On Tuesday, 26.02.2009, the former mayor Petra Roth and the then center management gave the starting signal for the MyZeil. Thousands of curious visitors waited for Roth to cut the ribbon, which was held by two facade climbers, punctually at 10:00 am. Just how great the interest in the center was is shown by the fact that the one million visitor mark was cracked after just two weeks. And the success continues even after a decade.

The main attraction at MyZeil is, of course, the 42-metre long interior cantilever escalator in Europe, the Expressway, so far unique in a shopping centre in Europe. Designed by Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas from Rome, the glass funnel still attracts visitors from all over the world and is one of the most popular photo motifs in the city centre.

A total of almost 100 shops opened in 2009. In addition to the anchor tenants Rewe, Anson's, Saturn and the fitness studio Fitness First, Parfümerie Albrecht was also one of the first operators. To date, the MyZeil shopping center has welcomed around 150 million visitors. This makes the shopping center in the heart of Frankfurt the most visited shopping center in Frankfurt.

With the management takeover by ECE Projektmanagement GmbH & Co.KG in 2014, many unique promotions and events followed, such as the Surf Days - the highest wave in Germany, the ice rink above the rooftops of the city or even the DownMall Bike action in a shopping center. MyZeil has really seen a lot of action in its first ten years and has also served as a film set several times, for example for the comedy "Männerhort". But of course, one does not want to rest on one's success and so the MyZeil will shine in all new splendor in its anniversary year.

Already since January 2018, the shopping center has been under reconstruction and is being made "fit" for the next years, in addition to an extensive mall refurbishment, FOODTOPIA - the new and unique gastronomy and entertainment destination is being created on the 4th floor until April 2019. "With Foodtopia, we are creating a new point of attraction at MyZeil on the Zeil. I am looking forward to the next chapter in the MyZeil success story. The shopping center has already been a highlight since its opening and the conversion measures will further expand its top position as one of the most popular shopping centers in Germany. ECE is thus setting another highlight in Frankfurt," says Marcus Schwartz.

On April 11, the following will open on the 4th floor. The following will open on the fourth floor: the Hawaiian concept of the Hamburg two-star chef Karlheinz Hauser and his son Tom Hauser "Poké You", Mexican cuisine with Chipotle, dean&david / Pommes Freunde, coa, Eis Manufaktur, Papa Napoli, eatDoori, Heidi and Paul, as well as Starbucks with a special coffee house concept. Other concepts opening by the Grand Opening in late summer include Sander, Big Chefs, La Maison du Pain, Alex, and the Astor Film Lounge.
