Shortly before the start of this year's Dippemess, some attractions were still iced over or covered in snow. But when the starting gun goes off for this year's funfair season on Friday, the Ferris wheel will be spinning, the monsters in the ghost train will be rattling their chains, the Break Dancer will be whizzing and the Skyfall will be free-falling brave adrenaline junkies from lofty heights back to the ground. A total of 20 rides and amusement rides, 13 children's rides, 40 food stalls, 14 sales stalls, as well as confectionery and lottery and shooting stalls will attract visitors to the fairground on Ratsweg with great offers until 15 April.
In the spring, the focus of the Dippemess is traditionally on the faster rides, which, true to the motto "Höher, Schneller, Weiter", are aimed at rather young adrenaline junkies. But even those who are not looking for an adrenaline kick will definitely get their money's worth from the wide range of rides offered by the 136 traders and showmen. Because even for visitors who are less familiar with the rides and loud music, a visit to the popular folk festival is worthwhile again this year. For example, the big closing fireworks display on Monday, 15.04., at 10.00 p.m., which is traditionally a feast for the eyes. Other highlights include Family Thursday, Children's Days (Tuesdays from 2 - 6 p.m.), the new Ghost Train, the three-story Laugh House and much more.
In the Festhalle Hausmann there is again a colourful party programme in 2018, from the indispensable Pink Monday to the Tracht Night, a country evening and a soul evening. On some evenings there is an entrance fee to attend the events.
Please note that, from experience, parking spaces are in short supply. Therefore it is absolutely advisable to come by public transport, then the Dippemess is all the more fun.
And another hint: On Good Friday (30.03.) the Dippemess is closed!
