The Vaccination Express travels through Frankfurt

There is something like normality again in many places - but just looking at the incidences that are just rising again, it becomes clear: the pandemic is not over yet. That is why the vaccination campaign, which has almost fallen asleep, is to be relaunched. To this end, offers that are as uncomplicated as possible are being created. Probably the most unusual offer at the moment is the Vaccination Express, which will travel through Frankfurt for two weeks. The City of Frankfurt, Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt (VGF), Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV), the Frankfurt Health Department and the German Red Cross (DRK) Frankfurt would like to make a very special vaccination offer to all those who have not yet had the opportunity to be vaccinated against COVID-19. DRK medical staff will be on hand to answer questions and carry out the vaccinations. All you need to bring is identification and, if available, your immunization record and health insurance card.

Vaccination Express runs on two lines

The vaccination express is, strictly speaking, two trams of the VGF, which will run from 25. October to 7 November through the city. The specially designed and also in the interior accordingly equipped trams are Sundays to Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on two different routes, on which passengers or vaccination interested people can get on at any stop and use the offer:

Line 1: Louisa - Südbahnhof - Willy-Brandt-Platz - Hauptbahnhof - Mainzer Landstraße - Zuckschwerdtstraße and back.

Line 2: Ginnheim - Festhalle / Messe - Hauptbahnhof - Konstablerwache - Friedberger Landstraße - Gravensteiner Platz and back.

The rolling vaccination offer is supported by the Department of Mobility and Health of the City of Frankfurt. "We are pleased to be able to offer this fast, uncomplicated and free vaccination offer together with our partners VGF, RMV and the City of Frankfurt to all those who have not yet had the opportunity for a vaccination," explains Dierk Dallwitz, Managing Director of the DRK District Association Frankfurt am Main. "So anyone who has not yet had a vaccination, or for whom the first one was long enough ago, can now simply get vaccinated on the way to work, shopping or meeting up with girlfriends."

On the mobile vaccination offer, Michael Rüffer, managing director of the VGF, says: "The idea is not entirely new, a mobile vaccination has already been successfully offered in other cities in buses or the S-Bahn. What we are offering here is a two-week-long continuous rolling vaccination offer across the city districts - there has never been anything like it before! Who can tell their friends later, 'I got vaccinated in the tram'," says Rüffer.

"Whether full stadiums at football or the evening pub visit: every vaccination is an important step so that we can all finally enjoy our lives again without worrying about infection. With the Vaccination Express, we bring the vaccine to many people, almost to their doorstep. All you have to do is get on and ride - there's no easier way to protect yourself from the Corona virus," says Knut Ringat, Managing Director of RMV and spokesman for the management.
