The VHS program for spring and summer 2019 is here

Focus: Well equipped for the digital (professional) everyday life!

(ffm) The new course program of the Frankfurt Adult Education Center (VHS) is available in print. The focus in the new booklet is on digital continuing education and the EDP offerings of the Volkshochschule.

Digital technologies have long since permeated our living and working environments. Media and offers are constantly developing. Providing up-to-date knowledge for sensible and competent use is a major field of activity of the VHS. The EDP area of the VHS includes courses that teach computer basics, graphics and image editing, video and animation, web design and programming, social media, networking and blogging. Smartphone and tablet technologies are also part of the teaching. Certifications are available in Microsoft Office with what are called MOS certificates. Social media skills can be certified as "Social Media Manager/-in (BVCM)". Part of the program are information evenings or lectures that provide help for self-help. The EDP offer includes around 350 courses and events every six months.

DigiFit by VHS Ffm! On March 14, the EDP department will present itself with a free evening on "digital fitness". The event includes a keynote lecture and free workshop offerings.

In addition to the presentation of the wide-ranging EDP offer, the program still holds a variety of other opportunities to actively approach planned educational projects. One can choose from the areas of society, foreign languages, EDP, occupation, health, literature, music, theatre, dancing, photography or artistic design. The programme comprises a total of around 2700 offers, including target group offers such as Active in Old Age and Young VHS. The programme also includes around 180 one-week educational holidays.

170 offers are new in the programme, for example a course on plastic fasting as a contribution to environmental protection, a free afternoon on the topic of happiness with three workshops, a workshop on conflict resolution within patchwork families, urban sketching as a drawing snapshot, architectural photography on the occasion of 100 years of Bauhaus, Pilates with baby or a course on rollator gymnastics. New in the professional area is self-publishing with ePub, agile change management or the course "Time Out" as preparation for a sabbatical. Also new in the program is the series KulturRaum 120: with changing questions and changing counterparts, the topics of friendship and paradise will be discussed in the first season. Esperanto is also new at the VHS. The planned language is intended to facilitate communication between people of different nations and to enable cultural equality. English learners from level B2 have the opportunity to attend a flexible conversation course. Also available is a training course with videos of the TED Talks, which are innovation conferences that now cover a range of topics from technology and global issues to art and science.

Merr habbe dehaam en alte Grießbrei: A series of courses is dedicated to the city of Frankfurt. Among them are city history courses on the Roman city, Ernst May, the unknown Frankfurt or the disappeared old town, but also Frankfurt songs in dialect or a course on four centuries of music history in Frankfurt.

On Saturday, May 25, the VHS will host a day on Slavic writing and culture. National-cultural features will be presented and introductions to some languages will be offered. A social program with cultural and musical contributions will round off the day.

60 lecture and information evenings about everyday life, work and leisure are in the new program. It includes cultural and psychological topics, history, health and other areas of knowledge relating to everyday life, work and leisure. Special course offers are presented at information evenings.
