The Week of Silence brings calm to Frankfurt

The Week of Silence brings calm to Frankfurt

In a city like Frankfurt, there is actually always something going on. Hustle and bustle and noise are part of the daily routine. From 10 to 17 September, the sixth WEEK OF SILENCE will once again provide a pleasant balance to stress and the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

"For inner balance and equilibrium, it is important to be able to successfully slow down the hectic pace of everyday life now and then. We often have to relearn how to find inner peace and discover the beautiful and slow moments in everyday life for ourselves," says Head of Health Stefan Majer.

And that is precisely what the "Week of Silence - Frankfurt Calms Down" action programme has been trying to contribute to since 2012. Organised by the Health Department, the Protestant Regional Association and many other partners, the aim is to show within one week that it is possible to find islands of calm even in a hectic and noisy big city: In churches and gardens, in the Tibet House, on the roof terrace of the Health Department and in the Haus am Dom. On offer is a varied programme of lectures, readings, concerts, city tours, film screenings and morning Qigong meditations for early risers.

The week starts on Monday, 10 September, at 12 noon, with an information stand on Liebfrauenberg - at 2pm "silence balloons" will be sent out here. The official kick-off with a musically accompanied reading by the best-selling author Pierre Stutz will take place at 7 p.m. in the Heiliggeistkirche of the Dominican monastery on Börneplatz.
