Eintracht's DFB Cup victory was a special event that must also be honoured in a special way. The victorious eagles therefore now adorn two webs to remind fans of this very special moment. On the "Cup Winners" coasters, for example, you can see the jubilant team after the final whistle in Berlin. Images of celebrating fans, players and, of course, the ball with which the team won the game can be found from today onwards on an S-Bahn and a tram carriage.
"When I look at the motif, emotionally for me it's back to 19 May, the evening of the cup match and the incredible reception of the people of Frankfurt the next day. For many Frankfurters, this is an event they will look back on with joy for a lifetime. My wish is that the trams will bring back the memory of this crazy weekend," said Peter Feldmann, Chairman of the RMV Supervisory Board and Lord Mayor of Frankfurt proudly at the presentation of the Eintracht trams.
RMV Managing Director Prof. Knut Ringat, who himself was present in Berlin for Eintracht's victory over top favourites Bayern Munich, added: "For over 20 years now, we have been keeping our fingers crossed for Eintracht together with the fans. With the cup victory, the sensation succeeded. With the train design, we want to carry the feeling of the cup evening through the entire Rhine-Main area."
Together, RMV, VGF and S-Bahn Rhein-Main selected the motif and provided one S-Bahn and one tram with the extraordinary and emotional sticker. "We all remember this wonderful evening on 19 May 2018. This date and event will remain in special memory for all Eintracht fans forever. All the nicer that in the future, people in the city will be confronted with the cup victory and this positive feeling again and again through this great designed track. I am sure that this way, RMV, VGF and DB will manage to put a smile on the faces of the people in the city even on grey, rainy November days. A great campaign, which once again documents the trusting and good partnership between the mobility service providers and Eintracht", Axel Hellmann, member of the board of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG, is convinced.
The S-Bahn of type ET 430 will be used on the S-Bahn lines S 1 (Wiesbaden - Ober-Roden), S 7 (Riedstatt - Goddelau - Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof) and S 8/9 (Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof - Hanau Hauptbahnhof). The VGF uses the "R" tram car on all ten tram lines in the entire network, including of course the stadium line 21. Many football fans get to the stadium on our S-Bahns. We are proud to transport up to 15,000 fans per home game to Eintracht's venue. The Cup Winners' S-Bahn is a visible expression of this," said Christian Roth, head of the Rhein-Main S-Bahn.
"VGF has been a reliable and loyal partner of Eintracht for many years, and we have experienced many highs and lows during this time. Highlights, such as the cup victory in May, naturally make us all the more pleased, especially as many VGF employees are Eintracht fans," said VGF managing director Thomas Raasch. "For Eintracht home games, we operate ten double trains on stadium line 20, which start transporting fans up to three hours before kick-off. And of course, after the end of the game, they will also take care of the ride home."
Years of partnership
To get everyone to the stadium and back in good shape, RMV has been offering the RMV-KombiTicket for Eintracht home games for many years, in which the ticket to the game is also valid as a ticket in the entire RMV area. In addition, RMV, Deutsche Bahn, traffiQ and VGF provide numerous special trains and lines to ensure that fans get to the stadium comfortably and quickly.
