TimeRide Frankfurt opens: Experience a virtual reality time travel to old Frankfurt

The Corona pandemic has messed up a lot of things. This includes the opening of a very special new location in the middle of Frankfurt, near the Paulskirche. Here, the virtual reality attraction TimeRide Frankfurt was already supposed to open around Easter. After the light had to stay out longer than planned, the time has finally come on June 20: Then you will have the opportunity to experience city history in a completely different way. With virtual reality and multi-sensory staging, you can travel back to 19th century Frankfurt. It's exciting, informative and spectacular!

This is history for all senses

The edutainment provider TimeRide GmbH lets visitors immerse themselves in the midst of Frankfurt's exciting and formative time of upheaval in the area of tension between pre-March and industrialization. Thanks to virtual reality and detailed backdrops, you can become witnesses of the times yourself. During the tour, you will travel alongside the fictional businessman Theodor Riedel at three exciting stations in the middle of Frankfurt's history.

The venerable merchant Theodor Riedel allows his guests a very personal view of the socio-political and economic upheavals of the 19th century. The combination of state-of-the-art virtual reality technology and multi-sensory feedback elements such as airflow, soundscapes and even smells allows TimeRide Frankfurt to recreate the multi-faceted panorama of a bygone era. Elaborately staged interiors such as a lovingly reconstructed colonial goods shop from 1830 and a Biedermeier study perfect the illusion of a journey back in time. Finally, the highlight of the attraction is the virtual reality carriage ride through Frankfurt in 1891: In the faithfully detailed replica of a panoramic carriage, virtual reality goggles provide a 360-degree panoramic view of the old town, still unscathed by the Second World War. Accompanied by the hoofbeats of horses, the architectural splendor and the lifestyle of old Frankfurt unfolds once again before the eyes of time travelers.

"We are very proud that TimeRide now offers time travel to old Frankfurt," explains Jonas Rothe, the CEO and founder of TimeRide GmbH. "Frankfurt am Main inspires me personally as an incomparably diverse city that can look back on a fascinating history. With TimeRide Frankfurt, we now want to bring this exciting past to life up close."

Thomas Feda, the managing director of Tourismus+Congress GmbH Frankfurt am Main, also welcomes the new time travel attraction as a great enrichment for the city: "With TimeRide Frankfurt, guests can experience the history of our city through different eyes and thus in a completely new way - the time travel is therefore a unique offer for both locals and tourists from Germany and abroad."

The tours at TimeRide Frankfurt are designed for both individual visitors and (school) groups of eight or more and last around 45 minutes. The time travels are suitable for children from 6 years.

Tickets can be purchased online now. It should be noted that the time travel tickets are issued for a fixed timeslot. Within this timeslot, a new tour usually starts every 10 minutes.

Current opening hours from 20. June 2020: Fri - Sun, 11am - 7pm

Address: Berliner Straße 42a, 60311 Frankfurt.
