Congratulations! After yet another very successful, diverse and flavorful week, the 2017 Green Sauce Festival has come to a close. And as in every year, the big highlight of the festival came on the final evening with the crowning of the overall winner. This year, the tourism trio of the city of Frankfurt can rejoice. In their eighth attempt, they have finally won the title of "Best Green Sauce". There congratulates of course also Frankfurt-Tipp.de quite cordially!
(kus) The sauce, which prevailed over the six other finalists from Apfelwein Wagner, Gasthaus Zum Einhorn, Landwehrstübchen, Waldgasthof Gundelhard, Zum Lahmen Esel and Restaurant Kastanie, comes from the kitchen of the Grandhotel Hessischer Hof. Second place went to Apfelwein Wagner, and third place went to the sauce from Gasthaus Zum Einhorn.
The trio, consisting of city councillor Markus Frank, Thomas Feda (managing director of Tourismus+Congress GmbH) and Eduard Singer (general manager of Hessischer Hof) had already qualified for the herb final at the opening on 13 May. Frank says: "Our trio had a particularly good feeling about being able to convince the guests of our green sauce. The fact that we actually succeeded in the end makes us extremely proud."
On eight evenings, 49 chefs from Frankfurt and Rhine-Main had put their herbal cooking skills to the test in the festival tent on the Roßmarkt and presented their Green Sauce. Each day, the audience voted for a daily winner.
Frankfurt's success in the sauce competition kicks off a special event, Green Sauce Day on Thursday, June 22.
