UEFA EURO Frankfurt: Big soccer festival with fan mile and floating big screen planned

If you want to get a taste of the European Championship atmosphere and couldn't get a ticket for the European Championship matches, Frankfurt is the place to be! The UEFA EURO 2024 Fan Zone on the banks of the Main in Frankfurt will be the ultimate meeting place for all fans. From June 14 to July 14, Frankfurters and guests from all over Europe can expect a top-class soccer festival with many highlights:

- 1.4 km long and offers space for 30,000 people.
- All 51 matches of the European Championship will be broadcast on ten screens.
- A floating big screen with a total area of 144 square meters and a floating soccer pitch are part of the spectacle.

Frankfurt is ready

Mayor Josef is looking forward to the upcoming games. He emphasized: "Frankfurt can once again present itself as a cosmopolitan, international and enthusiastic city. One hundred days before the start of the tournament, the anticipation in our city is huge. The 1,600 volunteer places for Frankfurt were filled within a few days." Josef added: "I am sure that EURO 2024 will send an important signal to soccer clubs. You can see that in the influx to the clubs after a tournament like this. More children and young people sign up for clubs, but new coaches and referees can also be recruited. I would like to thank everyone who has been doing everything they can for more than two years to ensure that EURO 2024 in Frankfurt is a happy and peaceful soccer festival."

In and around the stadium

Preparations for the five EURO 2024 matches are well advanced at the "Arena Frankfurt" in Frankfurt's Stadtwald. The EURO requirements for the stadium have been implemented with the aim of ensuring that as many measures as possible can be used on a permanent rather than a temporary basis. For example, new spaces have been created for wheelchair users and their companions, which can also be used for future events in the stadium. Investments have also been made in the areas of safety and visitor comfort in particular. The expansion of the E5 entrance and the modernization of the turnstiles will further increase visitor comfort. Behind the scenes, the newly created Venue Coordination Center (VCC) with its state-of-the-art equipment will contribute to a safe and hopefully unforgettable stadium experience for visitors at EURO 2024.

Fan zone and event program

Guests from Frankfurt, the region and all over the world can experience that pure soccer feeling not only in the stadium, which will be called "Arena Frankfurt" for the duration of the tournament, but throughout the city and especially in the 1.4-kilometer-long Fan Zone on the northern bank of the Main. The entire Fan Zone, which is organized by Tourismus+Congress GmbH Frankfurt am Main (TCF), offers space for up to 30,000 people. The Fan Zone will be open daily throughout the EURO, even on non-match days.

Between Friedensbrücke and Eiserner Steg, soccer fans can enjoy the excitement on a total of ten LED screens, some of which are installed on freight wagons. All 51 EURO matches will be broadcast on the screens. The most spectacular is the floating big screen, with a total surface area of 144 square meters (720 inches), which will be anchored close to the shore at the Friedensbrücke bridge. This will create a unique backdrop for top European soccer in the Fan Zone with a view of the Main and the Museumsufer opposite. This promises to be just as great an experience as the 2006 FIFA World Cup, where a huge screen on the Main also ensured outstanding public viewing and worldwide media interest.

Before the EURO kicks off, there will be a varied audiovisual opening production on the evening of June 12 at the Flößerbrücke in Frankfurt. The eastern side of the bridge will be draped in the colors of the EURO and set in scene by a light and sound choreography with the skyline as an outstanding backdrop.

Sustainability and volunteering

Throughout the tournament period, visitors can expect a series of events that will make UEFA EURO 2024 visible and tangible throughout the city. Frankfurt's volunteers will play an important role in making the tournament a reality. Host City Frankfurt has sought and found a total of 1,600 volunteers for the tournament. They will start the EURO period on April 20 with a big kick-off event in the Ballsporthalle.

In the spirit of sustainability, Host City Frankfurt hopes to be able to recruit many of the committed volunteers for further events after the tournament or to work in Frankfurt's sports clubs. It is precisely this idea of sustainability that is so important to the tournament. As part of the preparations, care will be taken to ensure that all planned activities are implemented as sustainably as possible. Sustainable concepts and structures are also being developed in the areas of transport and safety, which can serve as a basis for subsequent events. For example, the aim is to transport as many visitors as possible within the city by public transport in order to contribute to a sustainable tournament. To this end, those involved are working closely with the VGF and DB.

Exciting games - always in view!

In terms of security, a Host City Coordination Center (HCCC) will be set up especially for the tournament, in which all relevant decision-makers will sit in order to be able to react quickly and effectively to any incidents. For each of the five match days in Frankfurt, there will be a Fan Meeting Point at Roßmarkt and Opernplatz, where fans of the respective teams can get in the mood for the upcoming match. There will also be a fan embassy at the Hauptwache for the entire duration of the tournament, where fans can obtain all the information they need about the tournament in the Host City Frankfurt.

Host City ambassadors Alex Meier and Deborah Levi: "We are eagerly awaiting the kick-off"

Host City Ambassadors Deborah Levi and Alex Meier can also hardly wait for the tournament to finally start in 100 days' time: "With every day that we get closer to the tournament, the excitement and anticipation grows. We are delighted to be able to accompany the host city of Frankfurt on the road to the tournament and are looking forward to numerous unforgettable experiences during UEFA EURO 2024, which all visitors will look back on for a long time to come."
