Since last Saturday, public transport - and therefore stations and B-levels - have been subject to the stricter mask requirement. This means that only medical surgical masks or FFP2 masks may be worn there. And from Monday, 1 February, also applies: who wears no or a wrong mask and is caught with it, must pay 50 € penalty. Those who need such a mouth-nose protection at short notice can now purchase FFP2 masks at the TicketCenters Hauptwache, Konstablerwache and Bornheim Mitte. This is part of an agreement between VGF and Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV), from whose stock the masks come. They cost €2 each, and the VGF has limited the quantity given out to six per customer.
According to the company's observations, the number of violations of the mask requirement is very low. The overwhelming majority of passengers have also been quick to make the switch to medical masks, as checks in underground trains and trams since the beginning of the week have shown.
Full range of services offered by the VGF
Medical masks are intended to serve the safety of passengers on public transport, because they offer better protection than scarves, shawls, cloth or everyday masks. In order to be able to offer as much space as possible in the vehicles to passengers who rely on the VGF even under Corona conditions, the VGF is running the full range of services on all underground and tram lines, even if the number of passengers is significantly lower than usual.
